Have you ever paid attention to the words you send your loved ones off to face the day with? When rushing my kids out of the carpool line at school, I would tell them, "Don't forget to ride the bus home, or don't forget to turn in your project."
When Jesus emerged from the waters of his baptism, a voice from heaven proclaimed, "You are my Son, my beloved; with you, I am well pleased." These words, filled with love and affirmation, were the very ones that sustained Jesus during his forty days in the wilderness. They were a source of strength and comfort, reminding him of his worth and purpose.
While we may not be sending our loved ones into a physical wilderness, we are sending them into a world that can often feel just as uncertain and dangerous.
What words are you sending your loved ones to face an unpredictable world? Do they know they are loved?

MAKE A DIFFERENCE
Stephen Ministry is grounded in Jesus’ command to love one another. As an outreach of the pastoral office and under the supervision of clergy staff, Stephen Ministers are members of our church who have received 50 hours of training to provide confidential, one-to-one, Christian care to people dealing with various life crises or transitions. In addition, many Stephen Ministers serve communion to members at home and in senior living communities.
If you or someone you know might benefit from having a Stephen Minister walk with them through a difficult time, please get in touch with Rev. Carolyn Clifton or Jim Reavis in the church office at 770-536-2341, or Barb Mistarz, Stephen Leader at 770-540-1541. All communications are confidential.
If you want to become a Stephen Minister, a training class is forming for August/September 2024. Please fill out the application below and return it to Rev. Carolyn Clifton.
