Mid-Week Inspiration: Wednesday, October 19, 2022
Years ago, I was speaking to a crowd of students when I mispronounced a word and what they heard was truly embarrassing. I still remember it to this day. Of course, the students thought it was funny. It still haunts me.
When we do or say something humiliating in front of others, it makes us feel exposed. It feels like the person who witnessed our moment of failure will judge our entire life as a failure. So we never forget how someone reacts to our humiliation.
Therefore, I believe it is essential to be careful about how we respond to people in their failures. For example, we can confront people with their shortfalls or surround them with our love.
Proverbs 18: 21 says, “Words kill, words give life; they’re either poison or fruit—you choose.”
Who do you know that could use an encouraging word from you? Who needs your empathy more than your judgment?
Mid-Week Opportunity
In November, I will include notes of thanks from my readers in my newsletter. So who or what are you thankful for? And why?
