Mid-Week Inspiration: Wednesday, March 15, 2023
In 1884, Hattie May, a six-year-old girl who lived near Grace Baptist Church in Philadephia, told the minister her Sunday School class was crowded and cramped. “When we get the money, we will construct a class for all the children,” the minister said.
Two years later, Hattie May died. After the funeral, Hattie’s mother gave the minister a little bag that contained 57 cents. She was saving up for the new building. The minister took the change and converted it all to pennies. Then, he sold the pennies to raise funds for the new building. Through a series of events, twenty-six years later, the 57-cent donation purchased a church building that would seat 5,600 people, a hospital where tens of thousands of people had been treated, and offered scholarships for thousands of young people could go to college.
It all happened because six-year-old Hattie May had invested 57 cents.
Imagine what the Lord could do with your 57-cent investment of time, money, and presence today. When given with sincerity and an honest desire to serve others, God has a way of multiplying our gifts for the greater good.
What one small investment can you make today?
