Mid-Week Inspiration: Wednesday, March 13, 2024
A mother and her children were taking in the sites of New York City and were in awe of St. Patrick’s Cathedral. The mother invited each of her children to light a candle and say a prayer. “These are not birthday candles,” she said. “You are not making a wish but asking for God’s blessings.”
After the family bowed for a prayer, they began to walk away. The mother asked the kids if they had questions about what they had just experienced. “No,” said the five-year-old, “but if a pony is outside, it is mine!”
Friends, prayer is not making a wish. Instead, prayer is a conversation. And God wants to have a conversation with you today. Take time to talk to God. God is waiting to hear your voice.

A Question to Consider: How does the distinction between making a wish and praying reflect how we communicate our desires and hopes to God?
Mid-Week Prayer: Loving Father, Like a child who sees the wonder in Your world, let us always approach You with a heart full of trust and belief that You are always waiting to hear from us. May our prayers strengthen our relationship with You as we seek not just to ask but to listen and to understand Your divine will. Amen.
