Mid-Week Inspiration: Wednesday, June 28, 2023
I was walking along a street in Atlanta one day with a friend, and a homeless man approached us. My friend gave the man a couple of dollars. I said to him as we walked, “You know that money will likely be used for drugs or alcohol.”
My friend replied, “You may be right. If he does that with what I gave him, it says something about his character. But knowing someone in need and choosing not to help when I can, says something about my character.”
Throughout the Bible, God's compassion is highlighted as a central attribute of God’s character, and followers of Jesus are called to reflect this compassion in their relationships with others.
As a matter of fact, we are told to clothe ourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience (Colossians 3:12).
We are called to care for others. Where do you need to show compassion today?

Mid-Week Prayer:
Loving God, be near the sick and troubled, the fearful and alone, and those in pain. For those who suffer, be their peace. God of mercy, be merciful to us all. Amen.
Showing Up
Be a joyful surprise. Life can be routine and mundane. Find a way to offer a simple surprise to someone this week.
