Mid-Week Inspiration: Wednesday, June 14, 2023
Years ago, I had a relative who allowed his neighbor to crouch onto his property with broken farm equipment, used car parts, and other less appealing things. It caused the grass to grow and weeds to take over much of his yard. It wasn't pleasant. Of course, it was the neighbor's fault who created the mess. But it was my cousin who allowed the boundary line to be crossed.
A life principle that applies to this situation and many others needs to be remembered: We always get what we create and what we allow. It is up to us to set boundaries, and the boundaries we set define what we allow to happen in our lives and what we want our lives to become.
Proverbs 22:5 says, "Thorns and snares are in the way of the crooked; whoever guards his soul will keep far from them." One way to guard your soul is to set boundaries.
Where do you need to set boundaries today?

Mid-Week Prayer
Gracious God, You know how our best intentions sometimes go astray. May we not be unobservant guides to one another but fully present to your presence among us. Help us to listen and make sense of what you are doing and have the courage and faith to point others in the direction of your goodness. Amen.
Showing Up
One way to show people you care is remembering important dates. Take time this summer to collect birthdays, anniversaries, and other important dates, and put them in your phone as recurring yearly.
