Have you ever seen the movie Monsters, Inc.? The story contains a world full of monsters who scare kids at night. They go into kids’ closets through unique doors, scare the little boys and girls, and the screams are harnessed as power.
It all seems normal until a monster encounters a little girl who is not scared. Instead, she thinks the monster is a pet. And all of a sudden, the world of the monsters loses power.
Author Bob Goff says, “Monsters only have the power we give them.”
The same is true of fear. Fear is the story we tell ourselves, and our lives become shaped by it.
However, it doesn’t have to be that way. We can instead tell ourselves the story of hope.
Again, Bob Goff asks, “what if you took all the power you give to fear and handed it over to hope instead?”
What power are you giving to fear that you need to surrender today?
Dancing for a Cause is a collaborative event designed to strengthen community support for three local non-profit agencies serving children and families: Alliance for Literacy, Center Point, and Rape Response.
I will be one of ten dancers at this year’s event. And I can use your support!

I am also looking for suggestions on dance styles. Leave your suggestion in the comments.
