Mid-Week Inspiration: Wednesday, December 11, 2024
There was a woman who always felt followed. She’d snap her head around, sure someone was there. But the street behind her was empty. Still, the footsteps followed her everywhere.
She went to her doctor, desperate for answers. He found the trouble. Her hearing aids were backward, and what she thought were footsteps was her own heartbeat.
Maybe the story isn’t true. Maybe hearing aids don’t work that way. But it speaks to how so many of us live: always looking back, always haunted by what isn’t there. Anxiety grips us tight.
This Christmas, there’s hope. God has come near—Emmanuel—God with us. We’re not alone. We never walk alone.
That’s the Good News. God is here.

Question to Consider
How does the promise of Emmanuel, God with us, change how you face your fears and uncertainties?
Mid-Week Prayer
Lord, we thank You for being Emmanuel, God with us. In our moments of fear and anxiety, remind us that we are never alone. Quiet the footsteps of worry in our hearts and replace them with the steady rhythm of Your peace. Amen.
