Mid-Week Inspiration: Wednesday, April 16, 2025
Have you ever felt like something’s missing? Maybe you’re searching for success, belonging, or peace. You’re not alone—we all are longing for something deeper.
On the first Easter morning, Mary was searching, too. Heartbroken at Jesus’ death, she stood at His empty tomb, unaware that He was right there with her. “Who are you looking for?” Jesus asked.
What if Easter is more than a holiday? What if it’s an invitation—to hope, to love, to a God who knows you by name?
Maybe the answer you’ve been searching for isn’t in achievements or relationships but in the risen Jesus.
This Easter, maybe it’s time to stop searching and start discovering. Perhaps it’s time to ask yourself the same question Jesus asked Mary: Who are you looking for? You may find, like Mary, that Jesus has been closer to you than you thought.
Pastor Jamey
Mary stood weeping outside the tomb. As she wept, she bent over to look into the tomb, and she saw two angels in white sitting where the body of Jesus had been lying, one at the head and the other at the feet. They said to her, “Woman, why are you weeping?” She said to them, “They have taken away my Lord, and I do not know where they have laid him.” When she had said this, she turned around and saw Jesus standing there, but she did not know that it was Jesus. Jesus said to her, “Woman, why are you weeping? Whom are you looking for?” Supposing him to be the gardener, she said to him, “Sir, if you have carried him away, tell me where you have laid him, and I will take him away.” Jesus said to her, “Mary!”
(John 20: 11 - 16)
Question to Consider
Jesus asked Mary, “Who are you looking for?”—how would you answer that question today?
Mid-Week Prayer
Jesus, I confess that I’ve been searching—sometimes in the wrong places—for peace, purpose, and love. Thank You for meeting me in my confusion, just like You met Mary at the empty tomb. Open my eyes to see You. Help me to hear You calling my name. This Easter, I want to stop searching and start discovering more of who You are. Be the answer my heart has been longing for. Amen.
