Jamey's Newsletter: Sunday, October 16, 2022
A few years ago, a local newspaper ad was taken out: "Dear Jane, I love you more than duck hunting!" It was signed "Bill." No one knows why the ad appeared in the newspaper – I guess Jane and Bill knew. We can safely assume that Bill spent too much time duck hunting and not enough time with Jane.
If we are not careful, we will lose out on something valuable and not realize it until it is gone. The author of the letter of James from the bible says, "How do you know what your life will be like tomorrow? Your life is like the morning fog--it's here a little while, then it's gone."
Family, friends, and our health are a few things that, if we are not careful, we will take for granted and not realize until it is too late.
What or to whom do you need to pay attention today?
The time to start living is now. It may be the only living we will have time to do.

Prayer for the week
Patient God, forgive me for my impatience.
For driving fast, being aggravated by the slow person trying to find her debit card at the store, and the short attention span I showed when my spouse told me something important, have mercy on me.
I would say teach me patience, but I am afraid I would only find myself in situations where my impatience showed up more.
If you will, oh Lord, show me grace, and when I am tempted to be agitated, may I remember your grace towards me.
I promise to chew my food slower and be more grateful this week.
Be patient with me. Amen.

“There is enough for all our needs, but there is not enough for all our greed.” - Mahatma Gandhi
The market of scarcity runs on the economy of discontentment.
A spirit of contentment exists when a soul is in love with God.
How do we live with contentment? It starts with a change in mindset. Instead of saying, “I have to……,” say, “I get to…..”.
