If we are honest, some individuals drain the life out of us.
The nosey neighbor did not wake up and decided to be nosey. The annoying aunt did not set out to be annoying. The obnoxious co-worker did not choose to be obnoxious.
They are necessarily not trying to make our lives miserable. They just don’t think about it.
If they are not thinking about it, how much more do we not think about it in our own lives? Do you ever stop and ask yourself, “Are my actions damaging to this relationship?
In his famous sermon, the Sermon on the Mount, Jesus asks, “Can a blind person guide a blind person? Will not both fall in a pit?”
Before we start down the path of what is wrong with another person, we need to take a hard look at ourselves.
A great question to ask is, “What is it like to be on the other side of me?” What is it like to be in a relationship with you? This week take some time to work on yourself, and your loved ones will thank you for it.
Why would you need a promised Comforter if your life is already comfortable?
I don’t want my life to be explainable without the Holy Spirit.
Weekly Prayer
Gracious God, you create us and sustain us through your Holy Spirit. Open our hearts and minds to your presence now as your Spirit moves among us. Pour your divine love into our hearts so that we may live in harmony with one another. Transform our minds to see your great salvation in one another. We pray in the name of Jesus and through your Holy Spirit. Amen.
Meme of the Week
If you read this before 10:50 am on Sunday and attend Modern Worship at Gainesville First UMC, we need your help moving chairs in preparation for Vacation Bible School. In addition, you can use it as an opportunity to impress someone!
Dad Jokes
Singing in the shower is fun until you get soap in your mouth. Then it's a soap opera.
My wife said I should do lunges to stay in shape. That would be a big step forward.
I have been thinking………..
Author and speaker Michael Frost asks, "If Jesus planted a church, what would it look like?" He answers his question by saying, "You'd never run out of bread at the potluck suppers.”
But seriously, if Jesus planted a church, what would it look like?
I reflect on this question based on repeatedly negative news coming out on the modern institutional church.
During his earthly ministry, everyone wanted Jesus to be on their side. So if you can get the Son of God on your side, then you have God on your side, and with God, on your side, your side has influence and power.
Not much has changed. People are still trying to get Jesus on their side, and in doing so, we have lost influence.
What if, instead, we strive to be on the side of Jesus?
