Jamey's Newsletter: Sunday, June 12, 2022
Kids need to be dropped off. The supper needs to be cooked. Deadlines are coming due. Life is full of responsibilities.
We all have places to go and things to do. We are all busy. But how we treat people in our busyness says a lot about the character of the person we hope to become.
Jesus tells a story about a Samaritan who came across a wounded man while traveling. Instead of making excuses, he looked compassionately at the man and was intentional in taking care of him.
He treated the man with dignity and kindness.
Friends, even in our busyness, I pray that we may always show others the dignity, respect, and love Christ has shown us.
Take time and look around at the people in front and beside you. Look at them with love.

Weekly Prayer
Go before us, O Lord, and guide our ways.
In the boardroom, the schoolyard, and the check-out line, go before us, O Lord. When chasing after deadlines or toddlers, go before us, O Lord. When tripping over the unknown or treading through grief, go before us, O Lord.
May your Word be a lamp unto our feet and a light unto our path. Go before us, O Lord, and guide our ways. Amen.
Meme of the Week
Dad Jokes
Why is a baseball game a good place to go on a hot day? Because there are lots of fans.
Knock, knock Who’s there? Alpaca Alpaca who? Alpaca the suitcase, you load the car!
I have been thinking………..
Many people treat the Christian faith and Church with a tourist mentality. They enjoy it for a season, but when the demands of Christ are placed on them, they refuse to count the cost and give up.
But you can't be part of a movement for life change on a message of safety and comfort.
When we commit to the Church, we are not committing to being comfortable with an institution that exists to meet our needs. Instead, we are pledging our loyalty to a Savior who refuses to stay dead and calls us out of our individualism and into a community that exists to wake up a dead world.

RECIPE OF THE WEEK
I am currently having two separate conversations about future plans to impact our world.
We have a connection with a church on the border of Romania and Ukraine. We are exploring the possibility of a medical team visiting this facility in the upcoming months.
We are partnering with an NGO in Honduras on constructing feeding centers/community schools in the mountains of Honduras. We are scheduling a potential trip in August 2022.

Question Reflection (and yes, I actually think about these things)
What was the first movie you remember seeing in the theatre?
(I thought of this because we went to see the new Top Gun movie - so good!)
I think the first movie I saw in a theatre was one from the Star Wars series. I really cannot remember.
Weekly Blessing
May God give light to those who sit in darkness.
May God give hope to those who lay in the shadow of death.
May God give love to those surrounded by hate.
May God give joy to those walking in sadness.
When you grocery shop this week purchase a few extra cans. Drop them off at a food pantry. If you need somewhere to take them, Gainesville First UMC is currently collecting canned goods.
