Guest Post by Rev. Karen Hoyt
I find so much splendor and gratitude, in nature, from the beautiful fall colors. God is with us, always.
Today, I am thankful to God for life and the courage He gives me each day to fulfill my calling as a chaplain. But, of course, I couldn’t do this without my husband, four children, and dear friends.
Since the pandemic, I do not take as much for granted as I did before. However, crises often bring spiritual awakenings. I realize after talking to families whose loved ones are hospitalized, small acts of kindness are meaningful.
We see Jesus in the stranger. “For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in” (Mt 25:35). I see Christ come alive when in communion with other people.
Bonhoeffer stated, “Christ is always stronger in our brother’s heart than our own.”
In relationships with others, I often see God working through them and for them. It is in these moments where we glimpse the kingdom of God here on earth. So, may we all continue to abide in God’s redeeming love.
